#TheFoodieFiles: Roger’s Kitchen- Caribbean Flavour That Hits the Soul

If there’s one thing you need to know about me by now, it’s this — I love food. And not just any food. I’m talking about flavour-packed, soul-warming, authentic food that leaves a lasting impression.

So when I stepped into Roger’s Kitchen, tucked away in Camden, I didn’t expect to walk out having discovered one of the best Caribbean food experiences I’ve ever had in London.

Let’s set the scene — the moment I walked in, I was met with a warm welcome, charming artwork, and a dining space that immediately made me feel at ease. There’s something about this place that says: “You’re about to be taken care of.”

And taken care of, I was.

As someone of Jamaican heritage, I’ll be honest — I’m picky when it comes to Caribbean food. My nan and my aunties are the gold standard, and most restaurants rarely come close. But Roger’s Kitchen? Exceeded expectations.

Let’s talk food:

I kicked things off with the Tempura of Sea Bass and Snapper with Sweet Chilli Sauce. Let me tell you—this dish is a full-on mouth party. Light, crispy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked with care.

For my main, I went with the Chargrilled Jerk Chicken, which came with the most divine Curry-Coconut Sauce. The chicken was juicy, rich in flavour, and the portion? Massive. I was stuffed, in the best way possible.

To drink, I chose a non-alcoholic cocktail that was as pretty as it was refreshing – a perfect complement to my meal.

Then came the dessert. And baby, I was NOT ready. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was easily one of the softest, most decadent I’ve ever had. Sweet, warm, comforting — basically dessert heaven.

The Verdict?

Roger’s Kitchen is not just another restaurant – it’s an experience. Their dishes are created with ingenuity and a deep-rooted passion for flavour. Every bite speaks to their love for the culture, and their dedication to doing Caribbean food right.

If you’re on the hunt for a restaurant that serves up authentic Caribbean flavours in a stylish yet chill setting, look no further. This spot deserves a permanent place on your must-visit foodie list.
