Australia’s Must-See Natural Wonders

The Great Barrier Reef

At 25 million years old, the Great Barrier Reef is one of the oldest natural formations on planet earth. It’s the only living thing visible from space, and it spans a whopping 3,000km. Thousands of tropical fish live here, and there are ample chances to dive or snorkel and see the reef up close. Sadly, the Great Barrier Reef is shrinking due to climate change, so there’s no better time than the present to see it in all its glory!

Uluru

Also known as Ayers Rock, Uluru is a sacred rock structure located in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. It is a legend to indigenous people living nearby, and the sight of it is like something out of a movie. It’s in the Northern Territory of Australia, which is characterised by its large open red deserts. While it is situated in the middle of nowhere, you can find ways of reaching it from major cities. Adelaide is probably the closest big city to it, but you can also see how to get from Melbourne to Uluru via different transport options.

Daintree Rainforest

While you’re exploring the Great Barrier Reef, you may as well visit the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland. It’s a world heritage site that contains loads of gorgeous fern trees, stunning wildlife, and boasts epic scenery nearby. One moment you are on a beach near the reef, the next you are in a dense rainforest seeing freshwater turtles run around and enjoying the sounds and scenes inside. A must-see for any adventurers out there!

The Pinnacles

Located in Western Australia, The Pinnacles are large limestone formations jutting out of the ground. They’re a natural phenomenon, and the scene makes you feel like you’re walking on a different planet. In fact, some films have been shot here to make it look like they’re in space! It’s not that far from Perth, so it’s relatively easy to get to. You’ll be amazed at how many of these formations there are, and how pretty they look.

In reality, we’ve barely scratched the surface when it comes to Australia’s natural wonders. There are simply so many other things for you to see and enjoy – we’ve not even mentioned any of the wonderful waterfalls or colossal canyons! It’s simply a country that offers so much in the way of natural beauty, that you can’t possibly take it all in in one go. You’ll need to meticulously plan a trip around Australia to experience all of its natural joys.
