Meet Hairetic: The New British Haircare Brand Making Anti-Dandruff Products Feel Like Beauty Again

Meet Hairetic, the new British haircare brand rethinking anti-dandruff products with scalp-focused formulas, botanical ingredients and a fresh approach to everyday haircare.

For years, we have invested in products that promise healthier, shinier and stronger hair, from luxurious shampoos and deeply nourishing conditioners to scalp serums and restorative treatments. Yet, when it comes to dandruff, the conversation often feels very different. Instead of beautiful packaging, indulgent fragrances and products that complement our everyday beauty routines, we are frequently met with clinical-looking bottles and formulas that focus almost entirely on treating the problem.

But what if caring for a dandruff-prone scalp could feel just as enjoyable as the rest of our haircare routine?

Enter Hairetic, a new independent British haircare brand on a mission to change how we approach scalp health. Founded by beauty industry executive Andrew Rayner, the brand is bringing a fresh perspective to the anti-dandruff category with a collection of products designed to combine scalp care, everyday haircare and a more considered beauty experience.

And with scalp health becoming an increasingly important part of the wider beauty conversation, Hairetic is making a case for giving the skin beneath our hair the same attention we give our faces.

A New Approach to Scalp Health

The inspiration behind Hairetic comes from founder Andrew Rayner’s nearly two decades of experience in the health and beauty industry, including working with established haircare brands such as Head & Shoulders.

Having witnessed how the beauty industry has evolved, Rayner recognised an opportunity to rethink the way anti-dandruff products are presented and incorporated into everyday routines.

Rather than treating dandruff as something consumers should feel embarrassed about, Hairetic wants to normalise the conversation around scalp health and encourage a more consistent approach to caring for it.

It is an interesting shift in perspective. After all, we have become accustomed to investing in elaborate skincare routines, understanding ingredients and choosing products that work for our individual needs. Surely, the same level of consideration should extend to our scalps?

Hairetic’s philosophy is centred on creating products that address visible flakes while also considering how the hair looks, feels and responds to regular washing.

The result is a range that aims to make anti-dandruff care feel less like an occasional corrective treatment and more like an enjoyable part of looking after ourselves.

Meet the Hairetic Haircare Collection

Hairetic has introduced three products, each developed with sensitive scalps and regular haircare routines in mind. The collection combines natural-origin ingredients, botanical extracts and fragrances intended to offer a more enjoyable washing experience.

Hairetic Anti-Dandruff Sensitive Shampoo

Designed for regular use, the Sensitive Shampoo combines organic aloe vera with botanical extracts including rosemary, willow bark and nettle. The formula also contains piroctone olamine, an anti-dandruff ingredient, alongside glycerin and panthenol.

The shampoo features a natural jasmine and coconut fragrance and is formulated without silicones or added colourants. Hairetic says it is designed to reduce visible flakes while leaving the hair feeling nourished and the scalp more comfortable.

Hairetic Anti-Dandruff Sensitive Conditioner

Complementing the shampoo is a silicone-free conditioner designed to help maintain moisture and leave the hair looking smoother and shinier.

Its formulation includes aloe vera, botanical extracts and natural oils, including argan, coconut and linseed oils. It is intended to complement the shampoo while supporting the condition of the hair and scalp.

Hairetic 2-in-1 Anti-Dandruff Sensitive Shampoo & Conditioner

For those who prefer a simplified haircare routine, Hairetic has also developed a combined shampoo and conditioner.

Featuring a natural sandalwood and bergamot fragrance, the 2-in-1 formula is designed to cleanse the scalp while helping maintain the condition of the hair. The brand positions it as a convenient option for shorter hair and those who prefer a quicker washing routine.

All three products are presented in 250ml bottles, with the brand’s website listing each at £12.

Why the Ingredients Matter

One of the most interesting aspects of Hairetic is its decision to combine a recognised anti-dandruff active ingredient with botanical extracts commonly associated with modern haircare.

The Sensitive Shampoo contains piroctone olamine, which is used in anti-dandruff formulations to help control the yeast associated with dandruff. The formula also includes aloe vera, rosemary, willow bark and nettle extracts, alongside ingredients that support moisture and hair conditioning.

Rather than relying on botanical ingredients alone, the brand combines them with a dedicated anti-dandruff active.

Hairetic also reports that, in an independent four-week user trial involving 55 dandruff sufferers using its shampoo and conditioner together, 87% reported fewer visible flakes after four weeks, while 78% noticed fewer visible flakes after the first wash. These are brand-reported results, and individual experiences may vary.

For anyone who has experienced the frustration of finding products that address scalp concerns without compromising the look and feel of their hair, this combination is certainly worth exploring.

Beauty With a More Considered Approach

Beyond its formulations, Hairetic has also made environmental considerations part of its brand identity.

The British-made products are presented in bottles manufactured using recycled Prevented Ocean Plastic, while the brand states that its range is certified by The Vegan Society and Cruelty Free International.

Hairetic has also committed to donating 1% of its turnover to environmental charities through its involvement with 1% for the Planet.

These commitments add another dimension to the brand’s proposition, particularly for consumers who want to consider more than product performance when making their beauty purchases.

The Sasha Edit: Is It Time We Took Scalp Care More Seriously?

There is something refreshing about a brand that wants to change the conversation around a concern that so many people experience but rarely discuss openly.

We spend considerable time thinking about how our hair looks, how we style it and which products will help us achieve our desired results. Yet scalp care can easily become an afterthought until dryness, irritation or visible flakes demand our attention.

Hairetic is encouraging us to look at the bigger picture.

Its arrival is a reminder that a thoughtful haircare routine is not simply about the finished hairstyle. It is also about understanding what our scalp needs, choosing suitable products and making regular care part of our wider wellbeing rituals.

Of course, every scalp is different, and finding the right products can involve some trial and error. Persistent or severe scalp symptoms may also require advice from a healthcare professional.

Nevertheless, Hairetic’s approach offers an interesting alternative for consumers who want their anti-dandruff products to feel more closely aligned with the rest of their beauty routines.

With its combination of scalp-focused formulations, natural fragrances and environmental commitments, this new British brand is bringing a different perspective to a familiar haircare concern.

And as we continue to rethink what it means to look after ourselves from head to toe, perhaps it is time we gave our scalps a little more attention, too.
