So I Went To Fashion Week…. @Freemasons Hall

Well, I actually went to one day of it. But, listen guys; this is no mean feat for someone who only started taking my fashion blogging serious in 2016. Yes, I know many of you who visit this blog are long time supporters. Some of your go as far back as MYSPACE. (Who remembers the ‘Top Friends List?’). So, you would know that I’ve been blogging since 2007 with my motivational blog ‘Words, Thoughts and Reflections’. However, so much has changed since then. I now have two major passions that I pursue now and they are blogging (fashion and lifestyle) and empowering women through my female empowerment brand ‘Women Who Slay‘. Fashion and affordable style in particular is at the forefront of my blogging journey.

Being asked to request tickets for fashion week outside of my now ended online magazine In-spire LS wasn’t easy and  to be completely honest with you, I wasn’t expecting to be sent tickets. However, thanks to Pop PR, I was invited to a number of shows on the first weekend and I hate to sound a little over zealous but I have a feeling my much improved INSTAGRAM account had a LOT to do with it!

So how was it? Let’s just say I enjoyed the action outside of the building more than I did inside. Please understand, I am by no means putting down the efforts of the designers I did get to see. However, the energy and positive atmosphere outside of the venue was fantastic. I honestly felt that I would grow bored standing outside the venue, waiting for the shows to commence. But, what actually happened instead was that I missed some shows purely down to the fact that I didn’t queue up earlier enough to get in. The fact is I had a feeling that although I was invited to attend alongside a whole host of fashion bloggers and creatives; only some were on the priority list so they would get a chance to get in before anyone else. What this meant was that I queued up for two shows and didn’t get in to watch them because the venue became filled to capacity.

Luckily, I managed to catch two quality shows. The first from the Malaysian based fashion house Mimpikita and the quirky, fun and bold fashion label Cassey Gan.

Mimpikita is a fashion house which makes intricate and classy pieces in elegant neutral shades as well as bold prints and floral designs. They also have built up a solid reputation of designing a making beautiful bridal gowns and accessories.  Mimpikita  The brand was launched by three sisters who dreamed of making their own fashion label and it was a defining moment to watch all three of them walk the runway at the end. Although not my personal style, there were a number of pieces in the collection that really stood out and I would welcome the opportunity of including in one of my #mylookmyway posts.

I was in love with colours during the presentation of the Cassey Gan collection. The stage was filed with stylish yet functional designs and clothing that I would definitely wear right now. Upon researching the brand I was interested to learn of the brands focus on creating brand where style takes the forefront and their pieces are modern yet are designed with becoming timeless pieces within a stylish woman’s wardrobe.

While outside my journalistic side stepped out right into the fore and I began mingling and speaking with other fashion bloggers, influencers and creatives who came to capture all the outside action. There were so many people who resembled a Christmas Tree. I kid you not; one woman turned up covered in colourful baubles. Of course, if that’s your thing, fabulous. But, I was on the look out for quirky style that was clearly not forced and was instead a true representation of that persons style and mood. Here’s my top picks from the day.

I absolutely loved this trio. All three had their own unique energy and their personal style was a direct representation of that. The clash of patterns was a massive hit and I particularly loved the fendora hat worn by the woman on the end.
This beaut caught my eye and I had to ask for a photograph. A natural beauty @Cristinaastyles didn’t have to try too hard. She made sexy, glam and classy happen in one outfit. My overall favourite from the day.
How boho is this look? from the white baby doll dress to the grey hair. This beauty really ticked all the boxes for me. This is definitely a look I would wear personally.
I caught his eye and he gave me a little wink! His style was so bohemian and well put together. He knew he looked good too.
She entered the space and everyone turned and paid attention. I loved all of the thrills as well as the big shoulders on this dress. The hair was cool too.

I didn’t think I would enjoy myself so much attending alone but I had an absolute blast. From meeting the splendid and super talent award winning fashion stylist Dianne Stylist , to meeting the absolutely gorgeous woman in red to spending some much needed time to myself. I now feel more confident to branch out further in my blogging ventures and I will be attending more in the future.

Many thanks to Pop PR for the invite.

Sasha Shantel X Love Leggings #LiveInLove

I hadn’t heard of this brand before they reached out to me for a collaboration. But I can honestly say that I was missing out as I have never worn a pair of jeans so comfortable; and I mean NEVER! I practically shot this look then returned home and wore it at home too. That’s the kind of comfortable I am referring to.

Orange Is The Colour

I’ve never ever purchased an orange blazer before. In fact; I don’t really own much orange clothing. But there is something really amazing about this orange blazer. I have your typical black and blue blazers, I also own yellow and green blazers, but nothing beats my new fave. I had already planned my all white ensemble and knew that the blazer would make it a LOOK. But, I honestly was not ready for this.

Stunting In My Green Shein Suit

Don’t I honestly look like a Jazz musician in this suit? lol; but I absolutely love it! I really wanted to try something a LOT different from my norm. Fashion is about pushing boundaries and not always sticking to your comfort zone. This suit couldn’t be further from my comfort zone. A bright green, not tight fitting suit teamed with big black boots. I never felt so free in this easy and effortless look.
