I’ve never pretended otherwise, I have spot prone skin and it’s a MAJOR struggle! I admit it isn’t completely all bad because with the increased production of oil means that my skin is less prone to getting wrinkled. Though, saying that; I would rather normal skin any day.

I am currently battling with allergies to my cat; a cat I have owned for a year, however my lack of intolerance to him is only becoming apparent now. It sucks because I love him and if I be completely honest; it pains me that I have to go back to the drawing board to find what will and won’t work for my skin. However, through going back to the basics, I have established there are two toners that have an amazing effect on my skin, help to reduce oil overload, leave my face feeling clean and most importantly are affordable.

I have gotten excellent results from using both these products and if you suffer from overly excessive oil on your face and neck, then thank me later; these toners will completely overhaul your beauty regime.

TeaTree Daily Cleanser and Toner

This miracle product is one that I neglected a number of years ago but revisited recently and have had fantastic results. The first thing you realise about this duo cleanser and toner is how quickly it removes all makeup and grime with minimal effort.

Tea Tree has been recognised for many years as being medicinal and contains properties which kill spots and naturally purify the skin.

Benefits of Tea Tree include:

  • Helps to calm down Acne.
  • Known to help clear bacterial infections.
  • Eases the itch and soreness of chickenpox spots.
  • Eases the pain and appearance of Cold sores.
  • Eases Congestion and respiratory tract infections.
  • Helps stop Earaches.
  • Helps to treat Fungal infections (especially Candida, jock itch, athlete’s foot and toenail fungus)
  • Helps reduce Halitosis (bad breath)

This product also contains aloe vera which helps to moisturise and soften the skin, whilst the added peppermint leaves your face feeling extra cleansed and dirt free.

I used to dab a cotton bud in water before applying a few drops of the toner on, however; over time; I have found this toner is most effective when applied directly onto cotton buds without having to dampen pad first. This way, you’re not diluting the product and allowing more of it to be used to clean the face and neck.

This product is available from Superdrugs for £3.49, however most of the Superdrug stores offer ongoing promotional offers.

You honestly cannot go wrong with this major beauty essential!

The second toner is one that I have using for two months however, it has helped leave my skin feeling clean yet not dry and takes off every scrap of make-up and build up from the day.

My skin has been breaking out continually from September and I have struggled to get it under control. It’s the oil overload on my skin which makes it the most unbearable as I have to keep dabbing my face off throughout the day; which becomes an even more pointless task when I’m wearing foundation!

To help this the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water has been an absolute godsend. It’s perfect for sensitive skin as it’s not laced with perfume. It effortlessly removes make-up from your face without the need for scrubbing and rough movements on the face. It leaves your skin feeling so clean that you don’t have to rinse your face off with water afterwards either.

What many people don’t know even now that the order the ingredients are written on the product bottles is a clear indication of how good a product will be for your skin. In the past, I mistakenly used a number of face and body products that had perfume listed first. This was very damaging to my skin and increased not only the oiliness but the sensitivity of my skin too. The great thing about the Garnier SkinActive product is that it contains water first which makes it perfect for sensitive and oily skin.

It can be used all over your face too; whether it be your eye lids  and lips too.

I honestly can’t get enough of this product and have seen vast improvements in my skin since I began incorporating it into my daily and nightly routine.

I picked up a rather impressive 400ml bottle for £3.99 from the beauty store Savers, however it is also available in a number of other stores including Superdrugs and Boots.

Since my skin has been playing havoc with my life, I can’t be completely down by this as it’s opened up my interest in researching and discovering new products that I can use and offer honest opinions on. I can’t wait to share with you a few more products that have been helping to calm my skin down that will hopefully prove to be beneficial to you too!
