Though it was only this week upon hearing news of a venture that will ultimately take my magazine to a next level that I realised how much of an impact their words had had on me. What I can honestly say about myself is that I don’t perpetuate or pretend to live a life that is better than what it actually is. What I share on my socials is as real as it’s ever going to be, If I tweet I’m at an event; I’m there, if I’m eating at a swanky restaurant; you’ll most definitely see pictures of this on my socials too.
I’ve charted every step of my magazine with whoever wants to know about it, I’ve interviewed some of the biggest talents from the work of music, film, sports and business; all from the comfort of my living room and I have done this all while holding down demanding careers.
So why has it taken as long as it has to connect the dots? Let’s just say that I didn’t believe in myself as much as I do now. I allowed doubts and what ifs to cloud my judgement for the longest time. I was a creative and I wrote out of passion so when it came with turning the passion into a money spinner; I just didn’t understand the process of how to make it happen. Then of course with that; the naysayers came out in full force; giving their opinions (which weren’t asked for by the way) and acting like I was living too long in a perpetual dream world.
The truth is, I let myself and my passion down so for the longest time, we both just scurried along; waiting for something life changing to happen.
And then this year it did. A few days ago I secured my first office space for In-spire. My own space outside of the four walls of my house. A small but perfect place where I could finally work in an environment where I would have access to facilities, meeting rooms, event space and just simply have an address away from my humble abode.
The real work of course starts now but this was something that I had prayed for and had held out for, for the longest time. To now be able to say that this is now at my finger tips and is now a reality is a major step for me and my dreams.
The words of that person really struck a cord with me. Why is it that people outside of ourselves believe that they have the right to tell us what we can and cannot be. It doesn’t matter how old you are and it doesn’t matter how long it takes you. Your dream is your dream and your vision is yours and yours along. If you’re lucky enough like I am to have people who believe in what you’re doing and want to contribute to it; that’s great but NEVER allow someone to make you feel like you’re not good enough or not able to reach your goal.
I honestly no longer care how long it takes for me to make my DREAMS my complete reality. My life is my own and my path is also mine to walk. Celebrate every accomplishment you make and every positive step you take. Keep focused on what you want and never lose sight of it.
About this look…
So you’re still waiting on the travel post right? (Trust me, it’s in the pipeline!x ) As you know, I recently visited the beautiful island of Santorini, situated in Greece. It made sense to shoot some swimwear looks and although I was stuck in a ‘black rut’ only picking up black and white one pieces and bikini sets! I was encouraged by my mum to pick up this amazing bikini which is a beautiful mix of pink, brown and turquoise.
Primark are really excelling themselves at the moment with their holiday collection. The fit of this bikini is perfect and it really complimented my shape. I loved how it complimented my skin tone and was particularly in love with the halter neck detailing. This only set be me back £14 and it’s still pretty shocking that Primark still after all this time do not have an online shop section on their official website. What’s great however is that it is still available to pick up in a selected stores.
My gold cuff (which sadly broke recently due to my own clumsiness is from Primark and cost £3, my shades are from H&M and were £7.99.
As always, I’d love your feedback on this look and keep an eye out for my next shoot from #SantoriniEdition and check out my last post 🙂
