The past few days have been explosive to say the least. I sat down with my mother and we literally ran through the past 7 years! What we fleshed out involved a great deal of soul searching and it wasn’t the easiest thing to do. We came to terms with our failures and we recognised and talked about the factors that contributed to our stresses. What was most profound was how clear I felt for the first time in ages.
I thrive on helping people reach their potential; you could in fact call it one of my major strengths. This was the very reason why I started my magazine In-spire LS in 2010; to promote others and to simply create a space where I could write freely; without censorship or control from an outside source and just be open to create.
However, during this time; I had a number of personal issues which clouded my passion and overall hindered the progress of my site and stifled my creativity. I helped others continually; at the detriment of myself and after a discussion yesterday; I came to realise that it was because I was so selfless that I wasn’t further ahead on my plans for myself and for my brand.
This happens to the best of us and there is nothing wrong with helping others; but when it hinders your progress you need to take a step back and become selfish. Not selfish in a spiteful, cutthroat way; but in a way that you can truly make things happen and create a positive path for not only you, but everyone in your inner circle.
I had a number of plans for In-spire LS that I wanted to instigate years ago, but my private life and the roller coaster that commenced within it; held me back.
After talking through all the issues and coming to terms with what has passed. I’m now ready to fully celebrate what HAS been achieved and to work on the next steps; on my own terms.
For the first time in a very long time, I’m now very clear on my direction, what I’m working towards, what I want to achieve and who I want to reach with my brand. I have announced that I will be bringing my column ‘Editor’s Words, Thought and Reflections’ back on In-spire LS. I will also be filming inspirational talks to coincide with this.
I love writing fashion posts and posts about food, but my true passion is writing inspirational posts to inspire and empower those who read it so along with is already featured on my blog, you will also find more inspirational and reflection based posts.
I’m pretty excited to get my fingertips back on the keyboard and writing content that truly motivates me.
