As you must have realised by now, I love food. I love eating out and socialising with my people. It’s that perfect time to unwind, sit back, taste good food and have fun conversation with the people I care about most. On this occasion, I caught up with my friend Anna. It had been a while and having met a number of years ago; via social media, I have made a lasting friendship.
On this recent catch up, I booked a table at The Rivington which is situated in my favourite place; Greenwich. I attended the University of Greenwich and even though I practically lived in the area for three years but kept walking past this restaurant; always promising to go inside yet never doing it.
However, it was only a matter of time before the foodie in me burst out and I booked a table for two.
I have a tendency to often get stuck in a ‘food rut’ what I mean by this is that if I find something I like in one place; chances are I will eat the same thing elsewhere. Sashashantel.com was quite quickly becoming a blog dedicated to burgers in all their diverse forms so this time, I wanted to try something different.
The Rivington is a beautiful and compact restaurant with the most perfect environment for meeting with friends. The decor is the most inviting aspect of the place, warm and dimly lit; the moment I walked in I felt at home.
The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive to our every need and provided exceptional attention to detail.
I decided to go all out and ordered a massive meal. First was a chicken curry decorated with carrots, with boiled white rice which was fluffy and cooked to perfection. I opted for not one but two servings of vegetables which was just right. This was all rounded up by a yummy serving of slaw and a glass of white wine. I have to admit I got a little light headed… clearly a light weight!
Anna opted for a burger and chips, though hers looked better than mine usually looks. The only criticism I would make of the Rivington is that the overall cost of our meal added up… however, don’t allow this to out you off. This restaurant is amazing and the food is something I would encourage everyone to try if you’re ever in Greenwich.
