I honestly don’t care what anyone says, it’s nice to be acknowledged; especially when you just wasn’t expecting it. I love running In-spire LS because it’s my passion. It’s the one thing that can lift me from low moods. It’s the one thing that gets me up in the morning. In fact; it is the first thing I look at upon waking up and the last thing I look at before I go to sleep. You could say I love it! and I honestly I feel that when you’re passionate about something you need to think of it in that way.
I was blessed to be awarded with not one but two awards at this years C-Hub Magazine Award. C-Hub Magazine is a fantastic platform that celebrates black entrepreneurs and creatives within the community. They recognise the contribution ethic creatives bring to the marketplace and they take the time each year to award excellence in different fields ranging from editorial to the world of TV and film.
It was so humbling to be recognised by creatives within my immediate community and I was really thrilled to be apart of such a positive movement. The awards were held at the luxurious DoubleTree by Hilton London. I was met by a beautifully decorated building and it made me more excited to head inside I meet with the other nominees and guests.
I attended the awards with my mother Syianne Raemond who is also the co-editor of In-spire LS Magazine. We gathered into the press room and took pictures on the blue carpet. (I’m gonna talk about my outfit in my next #MyLookMyWay post.) It was a great space to network and I was able to touch base with a number of creatives that I will be working closely with in the next few months. 🙂
After this part we moved into the main event space which was really tiny but fit for purpose. I loved the way the decorated the tables and gave each table it’s own individual name.
I was blessed to be accompanied by my beautiful mother who is also the co-editor of In-spire LS Magazine. I can’t express how beautiful it is to work so closely with your mother. She is my bestfriend to and is the one person who always makes me feel happy, positive and in my element.
We had such a great time towards the run up of the awards starting. Major props have to be given to the C-Hub Magazine organisers as they were playing one dope track after another and my mum and I had to contain ourselves from not dancing the night away.
When the awards started, we settled in our seats and drank glasses of red wine to toast in the evening. I can’t express to you how blown away I was by the nominees and award winners that were in attendance on the night. It was great to see Lee Jasper win the legend recognition award for all the work he has done for minorities in politics. I have followed him for years on Twitter and he often receives major flack for his political views so it was lovely to see him receiving the respect and admiration that he deserved.
There were also so many amazing talents from the world of medicine, business and entertainment that took home awards that evening.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to win and had attended due to respect to the organisers. So you can imagine my surprise when I won not one, but two of the awards I had been nominated for. (Best Online Magazine and Best Editor)
It was such an amazing feeling and I still don’t know how I managed to get from my seat to that stage as I was in that much shock.
These awards were a testament to the work myself and my writers do on the site and it acts as a reminder that although the journey is long and hard at times, passion can and will always keep you going.
This post wouldn’t be complete without a special mention of the food cause anyone that follows me knows I’m the complete FOODIE! I was more excited about the 3 course meal being served at the awards than for the awards itself. When it comes to my food, I’m completely obsessed with bright colours and I loved how colourful all of my dishes were. From the starter, right down to the dessert, the food was amazing!
I can’t express how stressful and emotional the last few weeks have been for me and there was a big part of it where I actually started to doubt myself and my vision. However, looking back at these awards acted as a major reminder to me that I have created a fantastic and positive online home on the web and there is SO MUCH more to be doing.
Thank you so much to the C-Hub Awards for supporting the work my team and I do and for awarding my brand in this way. The evening was an amazing one and I can’t wait to see what the new year brings with it.
