At the Table
There are restaurants you try once and forget about, and then there are the ones that stay with you for days after. Seafood Bar in Soho is very much the latter and I’m still thinking about it now.
I went along with my friend for what I thought would be a nice dinner out. What I got was one of the best meals I’ve had in London in a long time, and I knew straight away I had to tell you all about it.
First Impressions
The second we walked in, I was sold. Seafood Bar is award-winning and family-owned, and honestly, you can feel it. The decor is clean and elegant, with a seafood theme running through every little detail, nothing overdone, just tasteful touches that make the whole space feel considered. It’s the kind of place that immediately feels right for a proper dinner date, but equally works for catching up with your favourite people over good food.
The service matched the setting completely. Attentive from the moment we sat down, without ever feeling intrusive; the kind of hospitality that makes you relax into the evening.
What We Ordered
We started with prawns, and they set the tone perfectly, fresh, beautifully seasoned, exactly what you want from a starter at a seafood restaurant that clearly knows what it’s doing.
For mains, I went all in and ordered the seafood linguine, loaded with shrimp, clams and mussels, all tossed through the most incredible sauce. I couldn’t resist adding a side of chips too (no regrets), and then we made the very good decision to order the lobster mac and cheese to share. Honestly? That mac and cheese might have stolen the whole show. Rich, indulgent, generous with the lobster; it’s the kind of dish you find yourself talking about days later.
My friend kept things a little more classic with the fish and chips, and it didn’t disappoint either. Crisp batter, perfectly cooked fish; a proper, well-executed version of a British favourite.
To drink, I had the Tommy’s Mezcalita; smoky, citrusy, and completely to my taste, while my friend went for the Hugo Spritz. Both were beautifully made and the kind of cocktails that make a meal feel like an occasion.
We finished with a shared pineapple with rum and sorbet, and it was the perfect way to end things, light, sweet, and not too heavy after everything that came before it.
The Verdict
Seafood Bar Soho isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience, from the decor, to the service, to every single dish that landed on our table. Award-winning and family-owned for a reason, and somewhere I’ll absolutely be going back to.
